Montrose sailing club is situated in Esk Road, Montrose, Angus. We sail in Montrose Basin which means the times you can go sailing depend on when the tide comes in. A little bit of history The Montrose Sailing club was formed on Park Hotel for those interested in the formation of a club to sail on the Basin. Twenty three people attended this meeting and a club was formed and office bearers and committee elected. At the fist committee meeting it was agreed that the club recommended dinghies would be Over the years the original dinghy park has increased in size and the clubhouse has changed from the original small wooden shed to a prefabricated concrete building (acquired from Glaxo) with changing rooms etc. added later on The club nowadays The club has several boats that are available to use at a small charge. These boats are of various sizes, from an Oppy (childs solo craft) upto a 2 man GP14 The complete fleet is : 1 x Oppy To gain access to these boats you are required to be a member of the club (for insurance purposes). |
